There is a saying among the Spanish people that only a matador who emerges victorious from the Las Ventas Bullring is a true matador, and only a bull that survives unscathed in the Las Ventas Bullring may return to freedom and live out its days in the fields. As such, this well-known bullring in Spain has become both a rite of passage to success and a symbol of honor for matadors.

The Las Ventas Bullring is located in the Salamanca district of eastern Madrid and is one of the city’s most famous bullrings. Built in 1929 and opened in 1931, it is considered the “home of bullfighting” in Spain. The bullring features a Neo-Mudéjar architectural style, with a diameter of approximately 65 meters, making it one of the largest rings in the world. It can accommodate up to 25,000 spectators for bullfighting events, with ticket prices varying depending on the distance from the “action” and whether the seats are in the sun or shade. The bullfighting season runs from March to December, with events held daily during the San Isidro Fiesta, as well as every Sunday or holiday throughout the season. Bullfights begin at 6:00 or 7:00 PM and last for two to three hours.
