Place de la Comédie
Introduction Place de la Comédie is located at the northern end of the old town, by the Garonne River, covering an area of 120,000 square meters, making it one of the largest squares in Europe.
On the western side of the square stands a monument to the Girondins who were executed after the French Revolution, as well as the 50-meter-tall Statue of Liberty encircled by bronze reliefs, and statues of Montaigne, the thinker from Bordeaux, and philosopher Montesquieu. The square is lined with rows of trees on both sides, and there is an observation platform by the riverbank, which offers the best view of the entire square.
