In the heart of Bordeaux’s UNESCO World Heritage site—along the Garonne River—every two years in June, a grand festival is held exclusively for wine and gourmet enthusiasts—the “Bordeaux Wine Festival.” It is expected to attract 500,000 visitors to Bordeaux.

Wine estates and merchants from across Bordeaux, as well as specialty food vendors from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, gather from all over. During the event, over 80 wine-producing areas from Bordeaux and Nouvelle-Aquitaine—including Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, Fronsac, Médoc, Graves, and more—set up their stalls along the riverbanks, forming a 2-kilometer-long Wine Route. Over the four-day festival, there will be wine seminars, barrel rolling competitions, parades by regional wine associations, and massive processions featuring the god of wine. Each evening at the Bourse square and along the Garonne River, light and sound performances blending music and art take place, followed by fireworks shows accompanied by music from 23:30 until midnight.

Bordeaux has also introduced two types of special passes for the festival: tasting tickets and a one-day château tour. With either pass, visitors can sample a variety of premium wines from Bordeaux and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Tasting tickets are priced at €15 each (approximately NT$570); the one-day château tour runs from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, led by an English-speaking guide visiting famous local estates, with prices ranging from €50 to €90 (approximately NT$1,905 to NT$3,428).
