HANGZHOU, China, Dec. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenYuan Tourism Group will acquire Château Birot in France’s Bordeaux region on December 19. To promote OpenYuan’s brand culture, popularize wine knowledge, and tap into public creativity, the group has selected five distinctive classic wines from Château Birot and launched a wine label design competition open to people from all walks of life. Entrants are invited to design labels for these five wines. A number of attractive prizes have been prepared for the winners, with the first prize winner receiving a trip to France.

As a leading private high-end hotel group in China, OpenYuan has long been committed to providing guests with premium and authentic French wines. This has led to a deep historical connection with Bordeaux, the world capital of wine. OpenYuan has maintained close partnerships with major renowned châteaux in Bordeaux, signed long-term strategic cooperation agreements, and introduced a series of “OpenYuan House Wines.”These include the widely loved and acclaimed “Red Passion OpenYuan” and “Pure Enjoyment OpenYuan.”

To further enhance the quality of OpenYuan house wines, in 2012, Chen Miaolin, Chairman of OpenYuan Tourism Group, and Chen Canrong, President, traveled to France to inspect the world’s five most famous châteaux in the Bordeaux wine region as well as nearly ten other châteaux of various styles, including Château Cheval Blanc and Château Cos d’Estournel located in different sub-regions of Bordeaux. They gained comprehensive insights into the characteristics and distribution of wines from both banks of the Gironde River.

At the end of 2013, Chairman Chen Miaolin and President Chen Canrong visited seven châteaux in the Bordeaux wine region again for in-depth inspections. They gathered detailed information on the history, style, land and vineyard areas, grape varieties and planting years, as well as specific annual yields and prices of the châteaux, further advancing the group’s intention to acquire a Bordeaux winery. In 2014, after four months of negotiations, OpenYuan reached an agreement to acquire Château Birot in France.

OpenYuan’s Château Birot (Château Birot) is located in the Cadillac appellation of France’s Gironde department, about 35 kilometers south of Bordeaux—the world-renowned wine capital. Cadillac is one of Bordeaux’s 57 famous wine-producing regions. The estate's wines have won awards in the Bordeaux Côtes de Francs category, and the château’s historic castle dates back to the 17th century.

According to the organizers, entries for the OpenYuan Château Birot Wine Label Design Competition can be creatively inspired by the original label elements. Participants may submit digital design works along with descriptions directly to the email hotel_1988@126.com or OpenYuan Tourism Group’s official WeChat account “OpenYuan1988.” Hand-drawn submissions can also be mailed to OpenYuan Tourism Group. OpenYuan Tourism Group’s official WeChat account “OpenYuan1988” will provide ongoing updates on the competition.

The wine label design competition offers one first prize, including a trip to France and a case of Château Birot wine; two second prizes, consisting of anPiPad mini and a case of Château Birot wine; and ten third prizes, each with a case of Château Birot wine. The submission deadline is January 8, 2015. After initial selection by judges, selected public entries will go to an online public vote.
