Longtan Park in Taiyuan City is a completely free and open urban park located in the northern part of Taiyuan. It is connected to the western urban water system. The park was formerly the Taiyuan Zoo, which was relocated to the Wohushan Park in the eastern hills in early 2003, and the new park was built on its former site.

The park is designed around four main landscape zones: Urban Symphony, Classical Charm, Ecological Gallery, and Water Activities Area. These zones seamlessly integrate the city and people, humans and ecology, and leisure into the landscape design. The park not only highlights the simplicity of a city with 2,500 years of history but also showcases strong regional cultural characteristics. It is a large comprehensive park that combines natural garden scenery, public leisure tourism, and social activities.

The park has four entrances. The entrance on Xinjian Road serves as the main entrance, emphasizing a draw-in landscape effect. Through an axial perspective, it aligns the celebration square’s scenery, and uses waterside steps to create a highly interactive water experience. The Chengfang Street entrance functions as a scenic entry point, highlighting the contrast and harmony with the park’s most distinctive visual axis, while interacting with the Tang-style scenic area as part of land art. The southern entrance offers a warm and peaceful visual effect, integrating with the Ecological Gallery area. The northern entrance serves as a functional access point.
