Welcome Spring with Flower Viewing and Fruit Picking – Taipei Leisure Farms Stay Open During Lunar New Year

This year’s nine-day Spring Festival holiday, except for New Year’s Eve, sees nine leisure farms in Taipei City open to welcome visitors. It’s the perfect time to visit leisure farms during the Lunar New Year to admire cherry blossoms, apricot blossoms, and pick flowers.

 

Qingxiang Leisure Farm, located on Wuzhi Mountain in Neihu District, faces the Dajian Mountain Range and offers a vast view. It is a long-established, authentic farming farm that grows a large variety of fruits and vegetables such as citrus, pomelo, and shiitake mushrooms. Apricot Blossom Forest Leisure Farm is situated in Laoquan Li, Wenshan District, and is the only farm in northern Taiwan that extensively cultivates apricot blossoms. Originally a private garden owned by tea farmer Chang Dingding, it is now open to all tea and flower lovers. Farm owner Mr. Chang said that the successive cold waves moving south have stimulated flower bud differentiation. He estimates that cherry blossoms will bloom first at the end of January, while apricot blossoms will start blooming on February 5th and reach their peak in mid-February. Moreover, both the quantity and condition of the blooms will surpass previous years. Apricot Blossom Forest also offers flower cutting services, starting from NT$200 per bouquet. Strolling through the sea of trees in three different colors—red, white, and pink—and breathing in the essence of spring, with the aroma of winter tea wafting from the tea house, makes it an ideal weekend leisure spot with fresh air and stunning scenery.

Besides admiring apricot blossoms at Apricot Blossom Forest or picking fresh fruits at Qingxiang Leisure Farm during the Lunar New Year, the recently certified Laquan Wellness Leisure Farm is the only leisure farm in Taipei City that features a wellness-themed restaurant. It offers a creative dining experience blending family warmth and modern wellness concepts. Outside the restaurant lies a lush forest-like health trail. The farm adopts a lohas (lifestyles of health and sustainability) wellness theme, aiming to encourage busy urban dwellers to enjoy healthy eating and reignite their five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

 

Currently, there are 10 leisure farms in Taipei City that have obtained “Approval Certificates.” These include Erqiao Leisure Farm in Beitou District, Fuyuan Garden Education Leisure Farm in Shilin District, Riyuemang Leisure Farm, Chunxuan Leisure Farm in Nangang District, Apricot Blossom Forest Leisure Farm in Wenshan District, Zhanghu Leisure Farm and Laquan Wellness Leisure Farm, Countryside Leisure Farm in Neihu District, Baishi Senhuo Leisure Farm, and Qingxiang Leisure Farm. The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development subsidizes these leisure farms to conduct outdoor educational activities based on the concept of learning through fun. With the theme of “Taking Kids to Learn in Nature,” the department invites public and private elementary school students in Taipei to participate in leisure farm outdoor educational experiences, providing a subsidy of NT$150 per person for materials. Applications for the first batch begin on February 25 and run until May 30 this year. Each leisure farm has only 600 subsidized spots, so please sign up directly with the farm.

Laquan Wellness Leisure Farm	02-2936-1230	No. 27, Lane 26, Laquan Street, Wenshan District For drivers, take Section 2 of Muxin Road, turn left onto Hengguang Street, cross Hengguang Bridge to reach the side gate of National Chengchi University, then take Lane 45 of Laquan Street uphill, turn at the fork onto Lane 26 of Laquan Street, and you will arrive after about 200 meters (you can also follow signs for Fenglin Restaurant to reach the destination).
