Fengkai County’s Senchong Baima Black Tea derives its name from Baima Mountain, located more than 1,000 meters above sea level in Xinghua Town. The foothills of Baima Mountain are the highest in the area, surrounded by mountains and frequently cloaked in fog, offering a uniquely favorable geographical environment. With Qilin Mountain acting as a windbreak to the front and the natural barrier of Baima Mountain to the rear, the region creates an excellent natural setting for tea growth. Senchong Baima Black Tea is known to have various health benefits, including clearing heat and reducing inflammation, relieving summer heat, invigorating the spleen and appetite, soothing the throat, quenching thirst, delivering a lasting sweet aftertaste, and refreshing the mind.

The Senchong Tea Plantation in Xinghua Town, Fengkai County, was formerly known as the Fenglou Tea Plantation (established collectively by Fenglou Village Committee). It is situated to the west of Baima Mountain in Fenglou Village Committee, Xinghua Town, covering a mountainous area of over 1,000 acres, with an original tea plantation area of more than 100 acres. Legend has it that Baima tea was once an imperial tribute during the Qing Dynasty. In more recent times, it gained fame across Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia. In the early years of the Republic of China, Baima tea was exhibited at the Paris Exposition in France, where it won third place, and also secured second place in a national tea exhibition involving seven provinces.

In recent years, experts have determined that Baima tea offers certain preventive and therapeutic effects against infectious diseases such as typhoid and bacillary dysentery. The black tea has a rich reddish liquor, uniformly firm tea leaves, and a high, sharp aroma. It helps prevent tooth decay, strengthens the stomach, aids digestion, and slows aging. The polyphenols in the tea can also reduce cholesterol levels in the blood, enhance blood vessel elasticity, lower blood pressure and blood lipids, and provide anti-cancer, anti-radiation, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and mind-refreshing benefits. It may also help prevent hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
