Welcome Spring with Flower Viewing and Fruit Picking – Taipei City Leisure Farms Stay Open for the Lunar New Year

This year’s 9-day Spring Festival holiday, except for Lunar New Year’s Eve, features nine leisure farms in Taipei City open to welcome the festive season, including Xinghua Forest Leisure Farm, Qingxiang Leisure Farm, Countryside Leisure Farm, Baishi Senhuo Leisure Farm, and Zhanghu Natural & Laquan Health Leisure Farm. Visiting leisure farms to admire cherry blossoms, apricot blossoms, and pick flowers is the perfect activity for the season.

 

Qingxiang Leisure Farm, located on Wuzhi Mountain in Neihu District, faces the Dajian Mountain Range and offers a vast panoramic view. It’s a long-established, authentically agricultural farm, cultivating a wide range of fruits and vegetables such as citrus, pomelo, and shiitake mushrooms. Xinghua Forest Leisure Farm is situated in Laquan Village, Wenshan District—the only farm in northern Taiwan that extensively grows apricot blossoms. Originally a private garden owned by tea farmer Chang Dingding, it is now open for all tea and flower lovers to enjoy. Farm owner Mr. Chang said that the successive cold fronts moving south have stimulated flower bud differentiation, estimating that cherry blossoms will bloom first at the end of January, while apricot blossoms will begin flowering on February 5th and peak in mid-February. Both the quantity and condition of blooms are expected to surpass previous years. Xinghua Forest also offers flower-cutting services, starting at NT$200 per bouquet. Strolling through the sea of trees in three different colors—red, white, and pink—while breathing in the spring air and enjoying the fragrance of winter tea from the teahouse makes it an ideal weekend leisure spot with fresh air and stunning scenery.

This Lunar New Year, besides admiring apricot blossoms at Xinghua Forest or picking fresh fruit at Qingxiang Leisure Farm, you can also visit the recently certified Laquan Health Leisure Farm—the only leisure farm in Taipei City with a health-focused restaurant. It offers a creative culinary space blending family warmth with modern wellness concepts. Outside the restaurant lies a lush forest-like health trail. With a focus on lohas (lifestyle of health and sustainability), the farm encourages urban dwellers to eat healthily and reawaken their five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

 

Currently, there are 10 leisure farms in Taipei City that have obtained “Permitted Registration Certificates,” namely: Erqi Leisure Farm in Beitou District, Fuyuan Education & Leisure Farm in Shilin District, Riyuemang Leisure Farm, Chunxuan Leisure Farm in Nangang District, Xinghua Forest Leisure Farm in Wenshan District, Zhanghu Leisure Farm and Laquan Health Leisure Farm, Countryside Leisure Farm in Neihu District, Baishi Senhuo Leisure Farm, and Qingxiang Leisure Farm. The Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development subsidizes outdoor educational activities at these leisure farms with the aim of learning through fun. Themed “Taking Kids to Nature’s Classroom,” the initiative invites public and private elementary school students in Taipei to join leisure farm outdoor learning experiences, with a subsidy of NT$150 per student for materials. Applications for the first batch open from February 25 to May 30 this year. Each leisure farm has only 600 subsidized spots available—please sign up directly with the farms.
