Fengkai Xinghua Baima Tea
Baima Tea is named after Baima Mountain, which stands at an altitude of one thousand meters within Xinghua Town, Fengkai County. The tea liquor is a clear, bright greenish-yellow and is known for its health benefits, including clearing heat and reducing inflammation, relieving summer heat, strengthening the spleen and stimulating appetite, soothing the throat, quenching thirst, and refreshing the mind. With a long history, it is said that Baima Tea was once an imperial tribute during the Qing Dynasty, and in modern times, it has also gained fame in Hong Kong, Macau, and Southeast Asia. In the early years of the Republic of China, Baima Tea was exhibited at the Paris Exposition in France and won third place; in the early Republic period, it participated in a seven-province tea exhibition and took second place. In the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), the provincial government had also developed a plan for the promotion of Baima Tea, but for unknown reasons, it was not implemented. In 1974, the local government developed a tea plantation on Baima Mountain, and now the annual dry tea production has reached 85 tons.
In recent years, experts have determined that Baima Tea has certain preventive and therapeutic effects against infectious diseases such as typhoid and dysentery. The polyphenols in the tea can also reduce cholesterol levels in the blood and enhance the elasticity of blood vessel walls, playing a certain role in preventing hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
