Baolin Temple

Baolin Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Baolin Temple is located on Dadongguan Street in Xinghualing District and is a Buddhist temple, with its main gate directly facing Dadongguan Street.

Baolin Temple is currently the only nunnery within the urban area of Taiyuan. Renovation work began in 2001 and has continued to the present. So far, the construction of the Mahavira Hall, the Heavenly King Hall, the north wing rooms, the Bell Tower, and the Drum Tower have been completed. In earlier years, Baolin Temple served as a resting place for Buddhist pilgrims from southern Shanxi traveling to Mount Wutai via Taiyuan. After its renovation, the temple will resume this function.

Dadongguan Subdistrict: Dadongguan Subdistrict is located in the southeastern part of Xinghualing District, with the Datong–Puzhou Railway running north–south. It borders Yangjiayu Township to the east, Jianshe North Road to the west, the centerline of Wulongkou Street to the south, and Yingchun Bridge and the railway branch line to the north, connecting to the Workers’ New Street Subdistrict of our district. It is a typical urban–rural fringe area. The subdistrict covers an area of approximately 4.5 square kilometers. There are 21 major streets and alleys, including Jianshe North Road, Wulongkou Street, and Dadongguan Street. The permanent population is over 50,000, with more than 21,000 households, and the floating population consists of over 1,600 households, totaling more than 4,200 people, including 1,116 people with disabilities and 6,372 elderly people aged 60 and above who enjoy...
