Former Site of the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League

The former site of the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League is a municipal-level cultural heritage site in Taiyuan.

The former site of the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League is located at No. 17, Jingying East Side Street, Xinghualing District, covering an area of 421 square meters. On September 18, 1936, the Shanxi Sacrificial Salvation Alliance (abbreviated as the Sacrificial League) was established in Taiyuan. In October of the same year, Bo Yibo took over the leadership of the Sacrificial League. On April 22, 1937, under the direct leadership of Bo Yibo, the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League was formed, comprising five districts and primarily responsible for organizing and mobilizing workers, students, and various social strata in Taiyuan. The former residence is a Qing Dynasty-style civilian building. From its establishment until the fall of Taiyuan, the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League rented this residence as its office. The building faces east and has a west-facing orientation, with a central axis that includes an eastern wing room and a main room, flanked by southern and northern rooms, and the entrance located in the northeast corner. The main room originally served as the meeting room and general affairs office of the committee, featuring a five-bay width, with the central bay having a flush gable and rolled shed roof with a projecting porch, and intercolumnar openwork carvings. The southern and northern rooms each consist of five bays, serving as the offices for the Sacrificial League’s Children and Youth Group and the Taiyuan Committee of the Sacrificial League, respectively. The architectural structure of the site remains largely intact, though the walls of the main room have deformed. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government in 2003.
