Introduction This is a pyramid-shaped building, standing 853 feet (approximately 259.99 meters) tall with 48 floors, making it the tallest building in San Francisco. When it was first completed, people were not receptive to its style, calling it "the dagger thrust from hell" and "an Indian tepee." Now, it has become a beloved urban landmark. The building serves as the symbolic headquarters of the Transamerica Corporation. Like many earthquake-resistant skyscrapers, its floors and foundation are designed to move independently with seismic waves. The lobby at the entrance displays many works of art from the company.
