Introduction When you stroll through School Street, on its left side within the former City Hall courtyard stands Boston’s oldest statue—a smiling yet solemn figure. This is the famous statue of Benjamin Franklin. Not far from here is America’s first public school—the Boston Latin School, founded in 1635, which still provides education in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood today.
