Kennedy Center
Introduction The Kennedy Center is located on the banks of the Potomac River, adjacent to the Watergate complex. The building is constructed from 3,700 tons of white marble, and its grand hall stands 60 feet high. Opened in 1972, it is a dedicated venue for a wide range of artistic performances, with exceptional acoustics in both its opera house and concert hall. The arts center includes an opera house, two theaters for stage performances, an experimental theater, a concert hall, a cinema, and a library for performing arts. Watching a performance at the Kennedy Center is one of the highlights of a trip to Washington, D.C., and visitors can also enjoy views of the Potomac River and the city’s skyline from the center’s rooftop terrace.
