Chulu Beach

Introduction    In the northwest of the southern end of Tinian Island lies a very romantic beach—Chulu Beach. A particularly beautiful type of sand, known as star sand, can be found here. Legend says it brings good luck, especially the octagonal star sand. For this enchanting legend, many travelers spend ample time at Chulu Beach, hoping to personally gather some of this good luck and carry it home in a bottle. Perhaps because star sand is so famous, many people prefer to call Chulu Beach “Star Sand Beach.” Another notable fact is that this was also the site where U.S. forces landed on Tinian Island during World War II.
