The Central Post Office of Ho Chi Minh City is situated in the vibrant center of the city, close to Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica. Constructed in the early 20th century when Vietnam was part of French Indochina, it is now one of the city’s most popular attractions, drawing numerous local and international visitors every day.

Designed and built by the renowned French architect Gustave Eiffel, the post office features an overall Gothic architectural style, with a classical dome that complements the surrounding buildings, creating a harmonious ensemble. The interior is richly decorated, with a large portrait of Ho Chi Minh hanging serenely at the end of the central hall. On either side of the hall are service counters, and on the walls are large maps, said to have been hand-drawn by French geographers of the time. The middle area features circular benches, a souvenir counter, and long writing desks, all set in a space bustling with tourists—some admiring the maps, others taking photos in front of Ho Chi Minh’s portrait, and still others quietly observing the building’s intricate stained-glass windows and chandeliers, marveling at its unique architecture and decor.
