Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology

The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology is located on the former site of the head office of Toyoda Boshoku Corporation, the birthplace of the Toyota Group. It was jointly established in 1994 by 13 companies within the Toyota Group, with the aim of effectively utilizing the preserved buildings of the old factory as valuable industrial heritage, ensuring their lasting legacy.

The Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology features various facilities including an Automobile Pavilion, Technology Pavilion, Toyota Group Pavilion, Toyota Shokai Office, Textile Machinery Pavilion, restaurant, and café. It is dedicated to providing comprehensive information and a comfortable visiting environment for guests who wish to learn about the history and development of the Toyota Group. Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by the world’s only surviving ring frame loom invented by Sakichi Toyoda in 1906. This historic textile machine is not only recognized as a “Japanese World Industrial Heritage Site,” but also celebrated as the “Dream Loom.” In the Automobile Pavilion, the museum has restored the first car produced by Kiichiro Toyoda in 1936. The pavilion also houses other “treasures” and a number of classic models that hold significant historical value, most notably the world’s most famous hybrid vehicle—currently the best-selling model globally—with cumulative sales exceeding 1 million units worldwide.

The Automobile Pavilion is the most popular exhibit at the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Spanning 7,900 square meters, the pavilion showcases all the classic representative models of the Toyota Group and welcomes thousands of visitors from around the world every day.
