The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse refers to two historic three-story buildings facing Yokohama Port, named Warehouse No. 1 and Warehouse No. 2. They once served as Yokohama’s customs house and logistics base, playing a highly significant historical role in the city’s development.

The red brick warehouses have preserved their Meiji and Taisho-era appearances, creating a nostalgic ambiance. Although the two warehouses stand side by side, they differ greatly in construction time and size: Warehouse No. 1 is 76 meters tall, covering a floor area of 5,575 square meters, and was first built in 1899 before being put into use in 1905; Warehouse No. 2 stands 149 meters tall, with a total floor area of 10,775 square meters, and was completed in 1911. In the late 20th century, due to changes in maritime transport, the red brick warehouses ceased their original functions in 1989 and were transformed into a commercial facility integrating tourism, sightseeing, shopping, dining, and more. They reopened in 2002.
