Every year after entering May, the Yokohama area in Aomori Prefecture becomes covered in rapeseed flowers. The bright yellow blossoms grow in vast expanses, forming Japan’s largest rapeseed field. During this time, the “Rapeseed Flower Festival” is held, and the entire yellow field is designed in a maze-like layout, allowing visitors to wander through the fields and enjoy an experience reminiscent of the Japanese TV show “Manhunt.”

The Yokohama Rapeseed Flower Festival is held on the third Sunday of May. During the event period, a marathon will take place. The approximately 50-hectare rapeseed field is turned into a game area, where “Rapeseed Supervisors” dressed entirely in yellow provide guided tours and explanations. In addition, there are experiences such as the Rapeseed Flower Maze and helicopter flights. It’s an event where you can take in the spectacular view of Japan’s largest expanse of rapeseed flowers while enjoying the fun of being surrounded by blooms.
