Japan’s largest aquarium, “Yokohama Hakkeijima,” is coming to Taiwan, set to be located at Phase 3 of the Huatai Premium Outlets in Taoyuan. The planning is largely complete, with the Phase 3 mall scheduled to be completed in May 2019. Attractions such as the Hakkeijima Aquarium, a resort hotel, and a cinema will open before the 2020 Lunar New Year. The 4,500-ping (approximately 14,800 square meters) aquarium will also become the largest in northern Taiwan.

Taiwan’s first American-style outlet, Huatai Premium Outlets, is located near Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station. With the opening of the Taoyuan MRT, it has attracted a large number of visitors. Phase 3 of the mall will add about 108 new brands, enhancing brand diversity. It will focus on daily necessities, furniture, luxury goods, home decor, and will also feature more restaurants and a larger food court.

The Yokohama Hakkeijima Aquarium at Huatai Mall will span 4,500 ping, with three floors above ground and two below. It will incorporate cutting-edge visual technology, interactive installations, and other entertainment elements, while showcasing diverse ecosystems from Taiwan and around the world to create a large urban aquarium.
