The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is located in Kanagawa Ward, Yokohama, and was established in 1994 as the world’s first food-themed amusement park. It was founded by Imai Yōji. Born and raised in Shin-Yokohama, Imai developed a deep affection for this familiar place. To support the development of his hometown and his lifelong dedication to ramen culture, he created this museum.

Rather than being a traditional museum, the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum is more like an amusement park themed around ramen. It is divided into two main areas: the Ramen stalls hall and a recreation of Tokyo in 1958 (Showa 33) at a 1:1 scale. The Ramen stalls hall features around eight long-established ramen shops from various parts of Japan, bringing together a variety of traditional flavors under one roof for visitors to enjoy. The number of ramen shops continues to grow. The Showa 33 Tokyo scene is recreated to evoke the nostalgic atmosphere of those golden years, allowing customers to savor ramen while immersed in a sense of retro charm—almost as if tasting the ramen flavors of the past. Additionally, instant noodles were invented in 1958, a breakthrough that helped turn Japan into the ramen kingdom it is today.

The Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum also houses shops that sell traditional sweets, snacks, and other food items. In addition, visitors can purchase ramen bowls, cooking utensils, and instant noodles.
