Minato Mirai 21, also known as the Port of the Future, is a cutting-edge new district in central Yokohama that combines business, residential, hotel, garden, shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities. Although construction of the district began as early as 1983, it continues to be developed and updated to this day in order to highlight its futuristic theme.

The Landmark Tower (296 meters) is one of Japan’s tallest buildings and a symbol of Minato Mirai. Completed in 1993, it houses office spaces, a luxury hotel, a high-end restaurant, a shopping mall, and other public areas. Visitors can take the world’s fastest elevator (750 meters per minute) to the observation deck “Sky Garden” on the 69th floor. On clear days, Mt. Fuji can be seen in the distance.

Located just a few hundred meters from the Landmark Tower, the Pacifico Yokohama convention center is one of the largest in the world and includes the semi-circular Yokohama Grand InterContinental Hotel. The hotel and the nearby Ferris wheel (part of Yokohama Cosmo World amusement park) are among Yokohama’s most iconic sightseeing landmarks. In Minato Mirai, visitors can also enjoy excellent shopping and dining options. Queen’s Square, Landmark Plaza, World Porters, and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse are all great destinations.
