Hong Kong Stadium

Commonly referred to by locals as "Po Tau" or simply "The Stadium," Hong Kong Stadium is located at 55 Eastern Hospital Road, So Kon Po, Hong Kong Island. Originally the Government Stadium, it was rebuilt and reopened in March 1994, with a capacity of up to 40,000 people, making it the largest outdoor multi-purpose sports venue in Hong Kong today.

The stadium has three levels, with seat types including main level seats, upper level seats, box seats, and wheelchair-accessible seats. Various food and beverage outlets under franchise operate in the concourses on each level. The roof of the stadium consists of a pair of arches covering the east and west stands, forming a "bowl"-shaped seating area on both sides that shelters approximately 75% of the seats. The arches span 240 meters and are made of fiberglass coated with polyvinyl fluoride material, giving them semi-transparency under floodlights. The arches are cantilevered and extend over the peripheral road, sloping toward the lush hillside alongside.

As one of Hong Kong’s most renowned stadiums, Hong Kong Stadium has hosted numerous high-profile events. These include major football tournaments such as the 1956 Asian Cup and the 1995 Dynasty Cup. The stadium annually hosts the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament, and most matches of the Hong Kong national football team are also played here. It served as a venue for the rugby sevens and knockout football matches during the 2009 East Asian Games. In addition, Hong Kong Stadium frequently hosts concerts and social events.
