The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (abbreviated as HKCEC; English: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, HKCEC) is situated in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, and stands as one of the representative structures among the latest architectural complexes along the city’s waterfront.

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is a flagship structure among Hong Kong’s newest architectural developments. Its new wing was built on reclaimed land and houses several large auditoriums and exhibition halls across three floors, making it one of the world’s largest exhibition venues. Its distinctive bird-like, outstretched wings design also adds a unique charm to the beautiful Victoria Harbour. The venue hosted the historic Handover Ceremony of Hong Kong to China in 1997, drawing global attention to this momentous event.

The centre offers a total leasable area of 63,580 square metres, with up to 140,000 visitors passing through daily. It is connected by overhead walkways to the nearby Wan Chai business district, and accessible via various public transport options including buses, ferries, and the MTR. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is the second-largest convention and exhibition facility in Asia, following only Japan in scale.

In addition to hosting major conferences and exhibitions, the complex also includes two five-star hotels, an office tower, and a luxury residential building. Its new wing, constructed on reclaimed land, features multiple large auditoriums and exhibition halls spread across three floors, making it one of the world’s largest exhibition venues. On 1 July 1997, the Handover Ceremony of Hong Kong to China took place here, capturing worldwide attention. Its iconic bird-like architectural form further enhances the scenic beauty of Victoria Harbour. The venue is owned by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and managed by the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NWS Holdings.

Getting There: 1. Take a ferry from Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui to Wan Chai – a very convenient route, with just a 2–3 minute walk to the Convention and Exhibition Centre after disembarking. 2. Buses: routes 25A, 25C, 8, and 8P. 3. MTR: Exit at Wan Chai Station A1, then follow signage to the venue.

Driving Route: After clearing immigration at Lo Wu Station, take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui East, then transfer to the Tsuen Wan Line to Admiralty, and then switch to the Island Line to reach the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
