Shuanglonggou Scenic Area is located east of the Summer Resort, in the valley zone on the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains, about 7 kilometers from the Hot Spring Sanatorium. Within the roughly two-kilometer scenic area, winding stone-paved walking paths twist through the landscape, while springs gurgle along their course. The riverbanks are densely lined with lush pines and cypresses, occasionally enclosed by stone railings. In open areas, pavilions are scattered about, and wooden cabins are nestled among the trees to provide rest areas for visitors. On the western mountainside of the valley, two long dragons sculpted from natural stone spout streams of water, hence the name “Shuanglonggou” (Double Dragon Valley). Tracing the valley upstream leads deep into the heart of the Tianshan Mountains, all the way to the snow-capped peaks. The valley is filled with a variety of uniquely shaped rocks and boulders formed by Quaternary glacial movements, as well as jagged ravines. Waterfalls cascade down steep cliffs. Along the secluded paths, there is a Cool Breeze Cave that emits a refreshing burst of air. At the end stands a massive rock blocking the way, beneath which lies a stone gate. Passing through a stone tunnel and a water cave, one will find the over ten-kilometer-long Baiyanggou Valley—where small red-roofed cabins appear and disappear among the trees, and small animals such as squirrels frequently dart across visitors’ paths, creating a truly marvelous experience.
