Smoking is banned in all scenic areas across Taiwan  Beitou Management Office: No smoking zones at Bai Sha Bay or Yehliu

Starting from April, a regulation has been fully implemented across all national parks, national scenic areas, forest recreation areas, and designated scenic spots in Taiwan, prohibiting smoking everywhere except in designated smoking zones. The Beitou Coast and Guanyin Mountain National Scenic Area Administration further announced the day before yesterday that among its sites—including Bai Sha Bay and Yehliu—none have designated smoking areas. Visitors are advised to take note when planning their trips.

Following Kenting Forest Recreation Area’s decision not to set up smoking zones within the park in order to protect forest resources, the Beitou Management Office also stated that it frequently receives complaints from visitors who go out for leisure and outdoor activities to improve their health but end up inhaling secondhand smoke, which is actually harmful to their wellbeing. Therefore, within the scenic area—including five sites such as Bai Sha Bay Beach, Yehliu Geopark, Guanyin Mountain Forest Ridge Trail, Jinshan Lion Head Mountain Trail, and Shimen Kite Park—aside from fully adhering to the no-smoking regulation, no smoking zones will be established. The administration hopes to preserve a high-quality recreational space for all visitors.
