Triumph Plaza

Triumph Plaza is situated east of Jingu River in the urban area. The plaza spans a total area of 8.8 hectares, with 3.6 hectares allocated to roads and paved areas, and 5.2 hectares dedicated to greenery. It primarily features a dry fountain plaza, square walkways, an Arch of Triumph, cascading waterfalls, pavilions, rockeries, along with the Sprouting Sculpture, the Happy Deer and Auspicious Elephant Sculpture, the Polymer River-Crossing Sculpture, granite benches, and white marble ornaments. The project commenced in May 2001 and was completed by the end of July 2001.

Cascading Waterfall: This is the most magnificent structure in the plaza, stretching 62 meters in length and standing 8 meters high, built with reinforced concrete. The rushing waterfall flows down in layers into the pool, creating a powerful sound, while peculiar rocks line the walls, appearing and disappearing intermittently. This scene, through the ingenious combination of form, sound, color, and light, naturally exudes a grand and majestic atmosphere.

Triumph Column: Constructed from reinforced concrete, this is the iconic structure of the entire plaza and serves as a monument to the urban development of Shawan.

Soldier Crossing the River Sculpture: Representing one of the plaza’s many sculptures, it is made of fiberglass. The sculpture conveys the themes of the enduring richness of Chinese culture and the vigorous growth of a new generation, symbolizing a bright future for Shawan.

Sprouting Sculpture: Made of copper, it stands 6 meters tall. The tightly closed buds and blooming leaves all signify the strong vitality of Shawan’s material and spiritual civilization development, symbolizing the thriving progress of Shawan’s construction endeavors.

Happy Deer and Auspicious Elephant Sculpture: Both are made of cement concrete. The Happy Deer consists of eight deer in various running poses, stretching 12 meters in total; the Elephant Sculpture is composed of two large and one small elephant, collectively representing “happiness and good fortune,” reflecting the joyful, peaceful, and prosperous life of the people of Shawan.
