Heishantou Forest Park

Heishantou Forest Park, covering an area of 670 mu, is located on a stretch of Gobi Desert north of Heishantou in the southwestern part of the county and south of the Beijiang Railway. The project officially commenced in 1997 and has seen annual additions and improvements. It was entirely completed through voluntary efforts by government officials and students, including the construction of 6.1 kilometers of small-area roads, 91 kilometers of tree belts, excavation and earthmoving work for the tree belts totaling 1.67 million cubic meters, backfilling with 1.05 million cubic meters of loess, installation of 224 meters of culverts, leveling of 150,000 square meters of land, and construction of 16 kilometers of main irrigation channels. A total of 6,854 trees of 14 different species were planted. Later, 1,159 new trees of 31 additional species were introduced and planted. According to the plan, it will gradually be developed into a botanical garden featuring multiple wooded areas.
