Tumur Grand Canyon Scenic Area

The Tumur Grand Canyon Scenic Area is a National Scenic Area and a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Tianshan Tumur Grand Canyon, also known as the "Kuduluk Grand Canyon," means "thrilling and mysterious" in Uyghur. It is a key stop along the ancient Muzart trade route that connected the northern and southern Tianshan Mountains. Located in Wensu County, Xinjiang, the scenic area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and was designated as part of the ninth batch of National Scenic Areas.

The Tianshan Tumur Grand Canyon is the largest and most aesthetically valuable red-bed canyon in the Tianshan Mountain range, renowned as the "King of Canyons." It is also the iconic developed landscape of the Tianshan Tumur UNESCO Global Geopark. Stretching approximately 25 kilometers from east to west and about 20 kilometers from north to south, the canyon consists of three main gullies arranged in a "川" (flow) pattern, twelve branch valleys, and hundreds of smaller tributaries. Its geological and geomorphological diversity is exceptionally rare, featuring at least canyon landforms, aeolian erosion landforms, fluvial landforms, tectonic landforms, and rock salt landforms. Together, these elements have created numerous breathtaking sights, including Colorful Mountain, Twin Populus Euphratica Trees, Heroes Valley, Source of Life, Ancient Postal Route Beacon Towers, Giant’s Peak, Giant Ship Crossing, Heaven’s Gate, Golden Kiss, Stone Hat Gorge, Hanging Nose Cliff, and City of Ten Thousand Mountains. The canyon is crisscrossed with ravines, winding paths, and is filled with red cliffs, steep walls, and uniquely shaped stone peaks and pillars.

On March 29, 2017, it was included in the ninth batch of National Scenic Areas.
