Niya Cultural Relics Museum The Niya Cultural Relics Museum is a comprehensive exhibition hall that centers on a long history and profound culture, integrating physical displays, photographic evidence, and textual descriptions. With generous support from the renowned Japanese scholar and friend Mr. Koizumi Yasunori, it was completed in January 1999, covering an area of 1,000 square meters. The 600-square-meter main exhibition hall houses six themed exhibition areas: a photo gallery showcasing the 50-year development of Minfeng County, a display of cultural relics unearthed from nationally key protected sites (the Niya and Andir ruins) along with their accompanying photos, a room featuring ethnic lifestyle and daily-use items, a collection of labor tools used in the “August 18th” Water Conservancy Project along with related images, a photo gallery commemorating visits to Minfeng County by central and regional leaders, and an exhibit introducing the natural medicinal plant Tamarix with Cistanche tubulosa (known as “Red Willow Cistanche”). Historical artifacts are displayed throughout the museum. It receives over 1,000 domestic and international visitors each year. Within Minfeng County, there are two national key cultural relics protection units and four county-level ones. In 1995, an archaeological discovery at the ancient city of Niya included a brocade embroidered with the Chinese characters “五星出东方利中国” (Five Stars Appear in the East, Benefiting China), which is considered a masterpiece among brocades (a national first-class relic) and has been collected by the National Museum.
