Ancient Andi'er City

Ancient Andi'er City is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction: Ancient Andi'er City is located on the eastern bank of the old Andi'er riverbed, about 40–50 kilometers north of today’s Andi'er Pasture. Locals call the ancient city Kaiximukule.

The ancient city was a settlement from the Tang Dynasty. It is circular in shape, with a layout resembling a collar, and has a diameter of about 130 meters. The city walls were constructed of mud bricks. The southern section is better preserved, standing over 6 meters high, with a base thickness of more than 9 meters. The city gate is located to the south, consisting of an opening in the earthen wall with an outward extension. On the left side of the gateway, there is an adobe room about 1.65 meters high, likely used as a guardhouse.

Near the ancient city, there is a towering stupa that is round at the top and square at the bottom, with a diameter of about 5 meters and a height roughly equal to its diameter. Within the city, paper documents inscribed in Brahmi script, Chinese, and Tibetan, as well as some Chinese inscriptions, have been unearthed. There are also fragments of murals, wooden paintings, silk fabrics, cotton cloth, coins, and various Buddhist artworks.
