The annually held “Towada Lake Winter Story,” featuring a snow lantern wall stretching about 30 meters from the entrance, an on-site snow igloo bar, and thrilling snow slides, presents a romantic scene reminiscent of a fairy tale — a must-see winter spectacle in Aomori Prefecture.

As part of Japan’s heavy snowfall region in the Tohoku area, the region transforms into a silver-white world in winter, offering numerous snow-related winter activities. From now until February 26, 2017, visitors to the “Towada Lake Winter Story” will be greeted by a massive snow lantern wall approximately 3 meters high, with its surface carved into semi-circles and fitted with small bulbs that emit a warm glow at night, creating a particularly romantic atmosphere under the snowy sky.

The venue features various romantic snow installations, such as elevated platforms adorned with lights that instantly become hot photo spots for couples; or iron-framed stages hung with pink LED lights and artificial cherry blossoms, creating a magical backdrop that melts the hearts of many.

Beyond photography, the “snow igloo bar” is not to be missed. After passing through the blue light corridor, step inside the bar where thick snow walls keep the space surprisingly warm. Visitors can sample a variety of alcoholic beverages, while non-drinkers can opt for a selection of soft drinks. Enjoying a relaxing drink in a snow igloo is a unique experience here.

For those seeking thrills, the venue offers two slides each about 20 meters long. Snow tubes are available for rent at just 100 yen per hour, making it a hit with both adults and children.
