“We are leveraging the integration of culture and tourism as a key approach to intensify the development of Hetian’s tourism products, and using the sales of these products to promote the growth of the regional tourism industry,” said Liu Jin, an official from the Regional Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, on December 16.

At the recently concluded 14th Xinjiang Winter Tourism Industry Trade Fair in 2019, more than ten outstanding local enterprises showcased over 60 types of distinctive tourism products. Liu Jin explained that participation in the winter tourism trade fair is a reflection of how the results of thematic education are continuously being transformed into strong momentum for advancing work. Through this trade fair, the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau gained experience in the development, production, and marketing of cultural and tourism products, further strengthening its openness, cooperation, and development awareness in cultural tourism. It also enhanced the promotion of Hetian, increased public understanding of Hetian’s cultural tourism industry, and fostered greater friendship and emotional bonds. Moving forward, the bureau will place even greater emphasis on enriching winter tourism products and strive to address the shortfall in winter tourism supply.

Currently, the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau is actively promoting the transformation of the outcomes of thematic education, using new development concepts to advance the integrated development of culture and tourism in the region. In response to the current situation where the tourism industry suffers from low quality due to a lack of core competitiveness, the bureau has proposed the concept of using special tourism to drive all-for-one tourism, with a focus on developing the “Kunlun Sky Road” as the main special tourism route. Five special tourism routes have been initially designed, collectively showcasing Hetian’s five major tourism features: “folk tourism + history + Kunlun mythology + alpine grasslands + desert scenery.”

“Previously, there were few toilets in scenic areas, and some places had poor toilet conditions. That’s no longer the case. The infrastructure in our Hetian tourist spots has become increasingly well-developed, and we also enjoy bringing friends to visit the scenic areas,” said Zhang Yucheng, a resident of Hetian.

In response to the “three difficulties and one inconvenience” issues in tourism development, the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau has intensified efforts to tackle these challenges, accelerating the construction of tourism infrastructure and further improving public tourism service facilities. This year, 51 new tourist toilets, 13 parking lots, 3 communication base stations, and 2 gas stations have been built. A total of 203 homestays with 1,366 beds have been completed, and cultural tourism events have been used as platforms to enhance external publicity and promotion.

Through proposing and actively implementing a series of measures such as “integration of people’s hearts, business operations, work improvement, and unity and combat effectiveness,” the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau has given the organization a completely renewed look, with all tasks progressing in an orderly and efficient manner. By organizing special tourism projects to achieve “breakthrough highlights,” the bureau has successfully rooted the new development concepts of culture and tourism in the development of Hetian’s cultural tourism industry. By improving the tourism public service system and accelerating infrastructure construction, it has driven the development of Hetian’s tourism industry. From January to October 2019, the region received 4.9 million domestic and international tourists, a year-on-year increase of 145%; tourism revenue reached 5.97 billion yuan, up 124% year-on-year.

Next, the Regional Culture and Tourism Bureau will continue to consolidate and deepen the achievements of thematic education, focusing on hot and challenging issues in culture and tourism. It will implement a “one-on-one” registration responsibility system, resolving one issue at a time and deregistering only upon completion, ensuring no premature closure or detachment until resolution. Responsibilities will be implemented step-by-step and level-by-level to ensure high-quality and effective outcomes of the thematic education.
