Silver Chrysanthemum Ornament Inlaid with Turquoise

Silver Chrysanthemum Ornament Inlaid with Turquoise, measuring 4 cm in length, 2.8 cm in width, and weighing 2.7 grams, was unearthed in 1975 from Tomb No. 6 of the Western Xia Mausoleum Complex in Yinchuan, Ningxia, and is now housed in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum.

This oval-shaped silver chrysanthemum ornament has a gold-plated surface, with a piece of turquoise inlaid at the center. The area surrounding the flower’s heart is decorated with beaded and scrolling vine motifs. This artifact served as an ornament for the hat of the Western Xia people, demonstrating exquisite craftsmanship and reflecting the advanced techniques of Western Xia metalwork—encompassing forging, pressing, inlaying, gilding, and polishing.
