Guyuan Qingshuihe National Wetland Park

Guyuan Qingshuihe National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

The National Forestry Administration recently announced that the Qingshuihe National Wetland Park pilot site in Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, has passed inspection and has officially become a national wetland park.

In December 2011, the National Forestry Administration approved the pilot construction of the Guyuan Qingshuihe National Wetland Park, with a planned total area of 726 hectares. It aims to establish a natural “baseline” for typical riverine composite wetland ecosystems and a “reserve” for biological resources in arid regions, serving as a “transit hub” for endangered and rare waterfowl species, as well as an important irrigation and flood control area for northern Guyuan City.

After six years of wetland conservation and restoration, the Guyuan Qingshuihe Wetland Park has completed ecological treatment on 200 hectares, restored 40 hectares of vegetation, planted 36 hectares of landscape greenbelts, implemented ecological restoration afforestation on 550 hectares at the outer edge of the reservoir area, and greened 16.5 kilometers of roads around the wetland. The water quality of the Qingshuihe River has improved from heavily polluted Class V in 2011 to Class IV.
