Xuanhuagang
Xuanhuagang is a cultural relic protection unit of Gansu Province.
Xuanhuagang is located in Zhangjiachuan Hui Autonomous County, Tianshui City. Established in the 15th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1889), it is the largest Gongbei and religious activity center of the Jahriyya sect of Islam in China. Its main buildings consist of Sufi prayer halls, the tombs of religious leaders, and related defensive structures. It is a garden-style religious complex that harmoniously blends Islamic architecture with traditional Han Chinese design, serving multiple functions and still in active use today. Xuanhuagang served as a center for the revival and development of the Jahriyya Hui Muslim community following the failure of their anti-Qing uprising in history. It bears witness to profound social changes in modern China and stands as an important physical artifact for the study of China’s modern history, ethnic relations, and the history of Islam. In 1988, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
On November 8, 2017, it was included in the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Gansu Province. The protected area extends 10 meters outward from the outer base of the surrounding wall in the east, south, west, and north directions.
