Changgou Tomb Cluster

The Changgou Tomb Cluster is a cultural heritage site protected by Gansu Province.

The Changgou Tomb Cluster is located 300 meters northeast of Dujia Village, Liubao Township, Zhangchuan Hui Autonomous County, Tianshui City. It is bounded by the Changgou to the south, the Wayaogou to the north, extends to the mountaintop in the east, and borders Zhanghua Road to the west. The site stretches approximately 250 meters from north to south and about 200 meters from east to west, covering an area of around 50,000 square meters. Over 30 tombs have been discovered, most of which have been looted. The fill soil of the tombs is mostly roughly compacted. The smallest tomb has a base edge of about 1 meter, while the largest has a base edge of about 8 meters. A large number of rope-patterned gray pottery fragments have been found scattered around the looter’s openings. At the looter’s opening of Tomb M2, human remains such as a skull and femur, animal teeth, a shovel-foot li tripod, and lacquer fragments were discovered. Among the over 30 tombs found, two are charcoal-filled tombs with a charcoal layer about 30 centimeters thick. This tomb cluster dates back to the late Warring States period.

Liubao Town: I. General Overview

Liubao Township is located on the northern side of Zhangchuan County, 8 kilometers from the county seat. It is named after the ancient Liu Family Fort within its territory and is a poverty-stricken agricultural township with a predominantly Hui ethnic population. It borders Ping’an Township to the east, Zhangmian Township to the north, Zhangchuan Hui Town to the south, and Muhe Township to the west. The total area of the township is 72,945 mu, including 33,093 mu of arable land and 27,456 mu of grain fields. There are 4,385 mu of grassland, providing ample forage for the development of animal husbandry, and 3,255.8 mu of forested land, along with 2,351 mu of reclaimed and afforested areas...
