Muyuan Garden Site

The Muyuan Garden Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Gansu Province.

The Muyuan Garden Site is located 100 meters west of Xichuan Village, Longshan Town, Zhangchuan County. It is a remnant of the Banpo type of the Yangshao Culture. Covering an area of about 15,000 square meters, the cultural layer is 1.5–3 meters thick, with exposed remains such as ash pits. More than 30 intact pottery pieces have been unearthed, including painted pottery gourd-shaped bottles, cord-marked pointed-bottom bottles, sand-tempered deep-bellied jars, slender-handled pots, basins, round-bottomed bowls, and bowls. Most are sand-tempered red pottery, followed by painted pottery, with fish patterns and broad band patterns being common, mostly in black. Other collected items include grinding stones and stone axes. The site is well-preserved and holds significant value for studying the distribution and development of the Yangshao Culture, as well as its relationship with the Majiayao Culture.
