Xiachengzi City Site

The Xiachengzi City Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Gansu Province.

The Xiachengzi City Site is located 1.5 kilometers west of Xiachengzi Village, Gongmen Town, Zhangchuan County. It is an earthen ancient city, commonly known as "Huangxiangfu." The city has a rectangular layout, measuring 600 meters from east to west and 500 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 300,000 square meters. The city walls were built with rammed earth in sections, with remnants standing 2–6 meters high and foundations 5.2–5.5 meters wide, with trapezoidal cross-sections and rammed layers about 0.08 meters thick. The northern wall has a gate that is 4 meters wide and 5 meters high. The inner side of the wall has cultural layer accumulations 2–7 meters thick, along with building foundations. The surface yields scattered rope-patterned and cloth-patterned bricks, tiles, and fragments of ridge ornaments. Artifacts collected include Han Dynasty bronze mirrors, iron ploughshares, pottery, and Song Dynasty ceramics. There is also a stele from the fourth year of the Shaosheng era of the Song Dynasty (1097), inscribed with "Record of the Reconstruction of the Temple of Lord Wuanjun." The site is relatively well-preserved and holds significant value for the study of urban construction history and local history.

Gongmen Town: Natural Environment: Gongmen Town is located in the eastern part of the county, 14 kilometers from the county seat. It has a total land area of 222,600 mu and a total cultivated land area of 45,300 mu. The average elevation is 1,760 meters, with an average annual temperature of 6°C, average annual precipitation of 653 millimeters, and a frost-free period of 157 days per year.
