Zhuangyuan Pool

In the beautiful and fertile Xiaoshui River system lies Zhuangyuan Pool. According to the *History of Yuan*, *Shanxi General Gazetteer*, and *Fenyang County Annals*, Zhang Yi, the top imperial scholar of the Yuan Dynasty, was born in Fenyang, served as an official in Beijing, holding positions such as Hanlin Academy Compiler, Censorate Censor, and National University Supervisor. After retiring from his post, he returned to his hometown and spent his later years in Xiaoyuan Village. This pool was the pond in front of his residence, hence the name Zhuangyuan Pool. Today, most of the Zhang family members in Xiaoyuan Village are direct descendants of Zhang Yi, who have produced many talented individuals and are widely praised.
