Nali Village

Nali Village is a Dai ethnic village with over 20 households located in the valley area north of Majie Township, Yuanyang. Stilt-style houses are nestled among subtropical fruit trees, and a crystal-clear stream winds around the village, presenting a picturesque and enchanting landscape.

The entire primitive pottery-making process using the Neolithic coil-building technique is still preserved in the village and is recognized by archaeologists as a "living fossil." The whole pottery-making procedure—from digging the clay, pounding it into powder, mixing, coiling, carving patterns, drying, to firing—is entirely carried out by middle-aged and elderly women in the village, with men not allowed to participate.
