Sculpted Art of the Earth Yuanyang Rice Terraces
The Yuanyang Rice Terraces are located in Yuanyang County, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, within the southern section of the Ailao Mountain Range. They are a masterpiece left behind by generations of the local Hani people. Amidst the undulating Ailao Mountains, the Hani people have carved out dozens to thousands of layers of terraces along the contours of the hills—tiered and curving, perfectly adapted to the landscape. From high above, this exquisite sculptural artistry of the earth is nothing short of astonishing. The terraced levels resemble celestial stairways ascending into the sky.

After the autumn harvest, fresh water fills the fields. Bathed in the light of dawn and dusk, the 190,000 acres of terraces emit a captivating glow. White clouds and blue skies are mirrored in the paddies, with shimmering light dancing across the surface. The colors shift endlessly, as if you've entered a boundless, giant maze where no beginning or end can be found. The picturesque scene resembles a heavenly utopia where immortals dwell.

No matter the season or time of year, visiting Yuanyang to admire the terraces offers different kinds of joy. There are several spots in Yuanyang to view the terraces, and due to varying angles of sunlight, some locations are ideal for dusk photography, while others are best for early morning shots. Generally speaking, the Tiger Mouth Terraces in Laohupi Village, Panzhihua Hongpi, are perfect for dusk views, while Bada, Shengcun, and Duoyishu are ideal for early morning vistas.
The Most Brilliantly Radiant Spring Luoping Rapeseed Flower Fields
Head to the rapeseed flower fields of Luoping in Yunnan to discover spring at its most dazzling. Luoping, Yunnan, is the first place in China where rapeseed flowers typically bloom each year. From February to March, the 800,000-acre sea of rapeseed blossoms that blankets the karst peaks of the Luoping Basin reaches its peak, representing the most beautiful time of the year and fully showcasing the unique charm of the world’s largest naturally-formed garden. Amidst the deep green mountains, patches of golden rapeseed flowers burst into view. The Luoping rapeseed fields are golden, they waft delicate fragrances, and they seem to hum pastoral melodies.
