Duoyishu Rice Terraces

The Duoyishu Rice Terraces are located in Duoyishu Village, Shengcun Township, Yuanyang, about 25 kilometers from Xinjie Town and 45 kilometers from Shengcun, at an altitude of 1,900 meters. The sunrise at Duoyishu is the most beautiful — even if you can’t catch the sunrise, the early morning, shrouded in mist, is a spectacular moving painting. Among the many photos of Yuanyang, the most beautiful and numerous are those of Duoyishu. They resemble woodblock prints, with ever-changing colors, especially at sunrise when the water in the terraces shifts hues dazzlingly. The Duoyishu village, faintly visible through the misty rain, is like a dreamy fairyland.

The Duoyishu scenic area includes contiguous rice terraces across Duoyishu, Aichun, and Dawazhe, spanning tens of thousands of acres. In many photos taken of Yuanyang, Duoyishu is the most frequently featured spot. The terraces here look like woodblock prints, with vivid and magnificent colors that change constantly. Especially at sunrise, the ever-shifting colors on the water before your eyes are mesmerizing, set against the misty, partially hidden Duoyishu village — a scene straight out of a fairy tale.

[Bus]

1. Take a Kunming–Yuanyang bus from Kunming South Bus Station. There are three daily departures at 10:20, 12:30, and 19:00. The fare is 139 RMB per person, and the journey takes 5–6 hours.

2. Most buses from Kunming South Bus Station go to Nansha Town, the county seat. It’s very convenient to travel between Xinjie Town and Nansha, with minibuses (10 RMB per person, departing every few minutes from 7:00 to 20:00). From Xinjie Town to the scenic area entrance, and between the entrance and various scenic spots, you can take minibuses with fares of 5–10 RMB.

3. You can also take a bus to Jianshui or Gejiu from Kunming and transfer to Yuanyang from there.

Hiring a car in the old county town for a one-day terrace tour costs around 300 RMB. A trip to Tiger Mouth costs about 100 RMB, and a half-day sunrise trip to Duoyishu costs 150–200 RMB.

Multi-Day Pass: Full price 180 RMB, half price 90 RMB (valid for 10 days, allows entry to Qingkou Folk Village, Tiger Mouth Scenic Area, Bada Scenic Area, and Duoyishu Scenic Area).

Annual Pass: Full price 360 RMB, half price 180 RMB (valid for 1 year, allows entry to Qingkou Folk Village, Tiger Mouth Scenic Area, Bada Scenic Area, and Duoyishu Scenic Area).
