Longshu Dam Terraces

The Longshu Dam Terraces are situated to the west of Xinjie Town in Honghe Prefecture. They are popular among photography enthusiasts and tourists every day because a type of red azolla grows in the terraces, creating richly saturated and vibrant colors during sunset that offer a uniquely striking visual appeal. The terraces at Longshu Dam have a different oxygen content in the water compared to other terraces, resulting in an abundance of duckweed, primarily in red, green, and yellow hues, which are vividly colorful. Around the Spring Festival, the duckweed at Longshu Dam is at its most abundant and beautiful, making the scenery particularly stunning.

1. Take a Kunming–Yuanyang bus from Kunming South Bus Station. There are three daily departures at 10:20, 12:30, and 19:00. The fare is 139 RMB per person, and the journey takes 5–6 hours.

2. Most buses from Kunming South Bus Station go to Nansha Town, the county seat. Xinjie Town and Nansha are well connected by minibuses (10 RMB per person, running frequently from 7:00 to 20:00). From Xinjie Town to the scenic area entrance, and between the entrance and various scenic spots, you can take minibuses with fares ranging from 5 to 10 RMB.

3. You can also travel to Jianshui or Gejiu from Kunming and then transfer to Yuanyang.

After arriving at the scenic area, hike (about 1 hour) or take an electric tricycle (about 20 minutes) to get there.

[Chartered Car]

Chartering a car in the old county town for a one-day terrace tour costs about 300 RMB. A trip to Tiger Mouth costs around 100 RMB, and a half-day sunrise trip to Duoyishu costs approximately 150–200 RMB.
