Yuan Jindao's Tomb (Ancestral Hall) in Xishui

Yuan Jindao's Tomb (Ancestral Hall) in Xishui is a cultural relic protection unit of Guizhou Province.

Yuan Jindao’s tomb is located in Yangjiagou Group, Shanlin Village, Sanchahe Town, approximately 400 meters from his former residence.

Yuan Jindao, as one of the earliest industrialists during the budding capitalist period in Guizhou and even the southwestern region of China, established 48 factories and workshops over the course of 39 years, covering various sectors such as agriculture, smelting, and casting. After Yuan Jindao passed away, his descendants built an imposing tomb for him not far from his former residence — Yuan Jindao’s Tomb.

Visually, Yuan Jindao’s Tomb resembles other ancient tombs from the same period, yet it also displays distinct differences.

Upon on-site inspection and comparison, it was found that only one of the two rows of vertical symmetrical carvings above Yuan Jindao’s Tomb has been fully completed. According to his descendants, the tomb construction was not fully finished due to the sudden death of the master craftsman in charge of the carvings, leaving it in its current incomplete state to this day.
