Lotus Pond

Lotus Pond, also known as Long Pond, is situated in the fields behind the government building of Baijin Town. The pond is approximately 30 meters in length and 20 meters in width. Each spring and summer, the water is fully covered by emerald-green lotus leaves, while white and pink lotus blossoms rise elegantly above the surface, vying with each other in charm. A light breeze brings the gentle swaying of the lotuses, as if they are waving to visitors, along with waves of fragrant aroma that make people linger and forget to leave.

Throughout the year, fishing enthusiasts gather by the pond, sometimes numbering dozens. Some, not content with daytime fishing, continue under the starlight at night—like “working overtime,” their lights twinkling like stars. It’s as poetic as “counting starlit fires to recognize the fishing village, lightly brushed ink strokes outlining distant hills.” In the 1940s, a wooden pavilion was built on the north bank of the pond, with a plaque inscribed “West Lake Scenery.” Though the pavilion and plaque no longer exist, visitors can still enjoy the charming and graceful beauty of Lotus Pond, reminiscent of West Lake.
