Dingguang Gate is the southern gate of Qingyan Town. It was built during the expansion of the Qingyan fortress in the 17th year of the Shunzhi reign (1660) under Vice Commander Ban Yingshou. During the Xianfeng era, Zhao Guoshu, the head of the Qingyan local defense forces, undertook a comprehensive renovation of the town and constructed the gatehouse. The currently visible gate and gatehouse were restored in 1993 and underwent further repairs in 2000. In that year, the municipal government allocated special funds for another round of restoration, reinstating the blue-tiled roof, adding protective walls, and largely returning the structure to its original appearance.
