Qingyan Ancient Town, one of the four major ancient towns in Guizhou, is located in the southern suburbs of Guiyang. Established in the 10th year of the Hongwu reign of the Ming Dynasty (1378), it originally served as a military fortress. The town features exquisitely designed and finely crafted ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties densely scattered throughout.

Although Christianity was introduced to Qingyan Ancient Town nearly a century ago, it is the most recently arrived religion compared to Buddhism, Taoism, and Catholicism. In addition, due to the lack of a permanent gathering place, it also has the smallest congregation.

Christianity was first introduced to Qingyan Town in 1921 by British missionary Rev. James Cameron of the China Inland Mission, with the site being Yangmei Fort. In 1934, Rev. Cameron assigned Chen Liugu, Chen Qigu, and Qian Meigu to preach in Yangmei and established a church there.

Currently, the Qingyan Christian congregation has over 200 members, distributed across areas such as Yangmei Fort, Yanlou, Xiaoshan Village, Oujiazhai, Tongmuling, and the Party School. Around 40–50 people attend Sunday worship services, while approximately 200–300 people participate during Christmas each year. In addition to holding Sunday services, members also conduct irregular visits to believers during the week.
