Yunding Grassland (Huaxi Alpine Grassland)

Located in Gaopo Township, Huaxi District, Guiyang City, approximately 37 kilometers from the Huaxi Scenic Area in Guiyang, it is a Miao autonomous township predominantly inhabited by the Miao ethnic group, along with Han and Buyi people. The vast Yunding Grassland, situated in the eastern part of Gaopo, is an excellent destination to experience the beauty of grassland scenery. It is quite rare to find such expansive flat grasslands at such a high altitude. The gently rolling hills stretch endlessly, evoking the feeling of the vast northern steppes where “the wind blows the grass low to reveal cattle and sheep.” The mountains are high, and so is the water—right at the summit lies a mirror-like “Heavenly Pond,” nestled beside Miao villages, bamboo groves, and thatched cottages. Clouds linger on the mountaintop, gathering and dispersing, creating a mystical, otherworldly atmosphere.

Transportation:

From Guiyang, take bus 201, 202, 203, K201, K203, or the night route 9 to Huaxi Station (No. 2721, South Huaxi Avenue), then transfer to a minibus to Gaopo Township (fare: 8 RMB). From Diba, walk about 3 kilometers to Xiaoyunding. Alternatively, you can drive directly to the scenic area entrance, where the road ends at Zhongyuan.
