Square of the People's Government of Zhongshan District

The Square of the People's Government of Zhongshan District is located on the south side of Biyun Road in Fenghuang New District, Zhongshan District, to the north of the Administrative Office Building of Zhongshan District, to the east of the Zhongshan District Convention and Exhibition Center, and to the west of Qingfeng Road. Covering an area of 35,000 m², construction began in December 2003 and was completed in August 2004.

The square makes full use of the natural features of the terrace and is built along the slope from bottom to top. It mainly consists of five sections: a crisscrossing lawn, rockeries, a musical fountain, and the Administrative Service Center, interspersed with golden bamboo groves, pines, and uniquely shaped trees.

In the northeast corner of the square, there are uniquely shaped rocks and decorative reliefs (on the gate pillars). The pillar reliefs are creatively inspired by traditional auspicious paper-cut patterns and depict the positive meanings embedded in traditional culture through relief sculpture.

The decorative pillars (reliefs) in the musical fountain section of the square are creatively based on the traditional virtues of benevolence, sincerity, courtesy, trust, integrity, and etiquette. They also embody the concept of building a modern harmonious society. The text is rendered in seal script form, conveying profound cultural meaning.

The entire square is compact in scale yet rich in content. Pines on the rockery are lush and green, with streams murmuring nearby, while golden bamboo sways and crape myrtle fragrances waft beside the rockery, giving the impression of a place with both mountain and water views — truly an ideal spot for leisurely strolls after meals.
